by Tiara Rea Okay, not really. But they just introduced a SWEET and incredibly-interactive computer tabletop that’s scheduled to be marketed first to hotels, restaurants, and retailers. I’m not sure when they plan to release something like this for the public or what kind of cash it’s going to cost us, but I would imagine there are bugs galore to be worked out. And they’re calling it: Surface. (Oooooh, aaaaaah.) Surface is a 30-inch computer in table form, which simultaneously recognize dozens of movements such as touch, gestures and will be able to recognize actual unique objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. It will ship out with a portfolio of basic applications, including photos, music, virtual concierge and games, which can be customized to provide their customers with unique experiences. Touch sensitive, you can arrange photos, book hotels, compare phones, and the screen even recognizes multiple points on the computer! That means if you have a bunch of pictures on it, three or four people can be touching and arranging and looking at them simultaneously. Soon, it seems it will be able to recognize actual unique objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. I think this is a pretty unique step forward for Microsoft, as I would have imagined Mac would have done it first. ;)
This is some pretty cool news I thought I’d share: Microsoft is going 2.0.
