By Amy Armitage We had such a huge response to our WordPress Design contest, that we have decided to launch a second series with cash and hosting prizes (first prize $1000 and 5 years hosting). This post is simply a heads up that it will be returning in the next few weeks, so dust off your designer tools and get inspired so you can start work! Don’t forget there is no limit on the number of submissions you can enter. Last time we had some challenges with the voting process which we have addressed, but we would like you to post your suggestions and comments on anything else that you believe will make the contest better. Don’t forget to tell your design friends about the upcoming contest and stay tuned for news of the start date.

By Mitch "Loves CSS" Keeler I am always in search for tools out there that will make the webmaster’s job an easier one. One of the most recent ones I have run across is called . The web site is still in "alpha" release, but already has a lot to love. All you need to do is visit the page, and click on the link to Start TabCreatr. From there you choose from a selection of drop down boxes and options how you want your tabs to look. After you are done, just grab the code and you are ready to go. Know of an easier way to create a tabbed navigation from scratch? almost makes the whole CSS design process too easy!

By Dinsan Francis Ever wondered if you could take your Outlook with you ? Wanted to use something better than Horde and Squirrel Mail on your Webmail interface ? Gmail has an alternative for you !! of what you need to do ( believe me, its quite simple ) Once you set this up, you can add labels to all emails to this account, and filter them accordingly, set a default reply address, leave or delete the downloaded email from your POP server. Few things to Remember :

By Mitch “Q & A” Keeler As some of you may know, is yet another one of the great free content management systems out there from the Web that you can install and use to make your web site even better. It adds management options you never thought you wanted or you never knew you needed. Over the weekend though I got a Lunartics reader asking me where could they find some templates and themes for this CMS king? Here are a few of my suggestions for theme databases for Joomla powered web sites: Have any more good ones? Feel free to send them my way or drop them in as a comment. Would love to get a few more opinions on where the best places are to get Joomla themes are.

by Tiara Rea We get a few advertising requests every now and then, so we’ve been searching for a nice little feature that could help you guys get some space on our blog without really overwhelming the site with ugly advertisements. So we have implemented , a unique widget that works more as a tip jar than an advertising panel, but with the same benefits as advertising. Here’s how it works: Scroll down on the left menu till you see the widget that asks “Are You in My Top Spots?” If you’d like to have your link on the , simply click on the Spot you’d like, write up your text link and description, and you can post your text link instantly. And what’s the cost, you ask? Five buckaroos! Yep, only $5 per link! I bolded that because I think it’s uber cheap. ;) Your ads will stay on the Lunartics Blog for 24 hours after we approve it, and once that 24 hours is up, the Top Spot will again become available for purchase. So if you want to keep your link there, you can put another $5 in our tip jar or tip $5 to get your friend’s website up there! Keep in mind, all the money we get from your tips goes right back into your hosting as we pay for new servers, add new features, or impliment new partnerships. We have 20 Top Spots for sale to give everybody a chance, so if your website would be a great compliment to our Lunartics Blog, or you’d just like to leave us a tip, we welcome you to give this a shot! And if you like the way this little widget works, get your own from !

By Mitch "Finding Freebies" Keeler I am always happy to help when we get a question in here to the Lunartics blog to answer. This time around we were asked if we knew of any free background resources? Here are a few of the best ones I have found. Backgrounds can often add flair and class to a usually boring and mundane web site. Know of another great place to find your tiled or large web site backgrounds?

By Mitch “cPanel is Your Friend” Keeler Your .htaccess file, with any Apache based server or hosting account is a very powerful tool that if you can learn to use for your advantage can help you complete many time consuming or difficult tasks with ease. How do you create one though for your web hosting account? This is a question that we get here time to time, and here is your solution. Login to your cPanel with your user name and password, then once you have made it in, head over to your File Manager. Now the File Manager’s interface is a very familiar Windows-styled look at your files on your hosting account. You will want to click on your folder icon next to your public_html link next, that will take you to the insides of the public_html folder. Inside you will see all your web site files. You need to scan down the page till you see the bold text, Create a New File. Click that and you should get in the upper-right corner a box with a few more setting to fill in. In the empty text box, put in .htaccess. Keep the drop down box on Text Document and then hit the Create button. Now you have your .htaccess file inside of your public_html folder all with the help of cPanel and your helpful File Manger.

By Mitch “The Transfererer” Keeler One of the web hosting basics that all must eventually learn about and master is the art of FTP. FTP stands for file transfer protocol and acts as a way for you to move files and folders from your PC to your hosting account Online. With any of the Lunarpages web hosting accounts - this option is available to you. Some of my top choices for FTP clients would be: When filling out your account information, this is what you should put in each box: Hostname: For this, you would need to put in yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is your actual domain name) or servername.lunarpages.com (also where it says lunarpages.com this information might also change. See your welcome e-mail for more information). User Name: This would be your account user name that you put in. This is the same one you use to login to your control panel. Password: The password you can use, is the same one you use to login to your control panel. That should be it. Try it out and see if it connects. If not, you might double check to make sure that you got all of your connection information correct. Yet again, this would be a good time to check back with your welcome e-mail to make sure that your information matches there with what you put in. Also as a bonus we have a number of to help you get your FTP account up and running.
