by Tiara Rea Okay, not really. But they just introduced a SWEET and incredibly-interactive computer tabletop that’s scheduled to be marketed first to hotels, restaurants, and retailers. I’m not sure when they plan to release something like this for the public or what kind of cash it’s going to cost us, but I would imagine there are bugs galore to be worked out. And they’re calling it: Surface. (Oooooh, aaaaaah.) Surface is a 30-inch computer in table form, which simultaneously recognize dozens of movements such as touch, gestures and will be able to recognize actual unique objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. It will ship out with a portfolio of basic applications, including photos, music, virtual concierge and games, which can be customized to provide their customers with unique experiences. Touch sensitive, you can arrange photos, book hotels, compare phones, and the screen even recognizes multiple points on the computer! That means if you have a bunch of pictures on it, three or four people can be touching and arranging and looking at them simultaneously. Soon, it seems it will be able to recognize actual unique objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. I think this is a pretty unique step forward for Microsoft, as I would have imagined Mac would have done it first. ;)
This is some pretty cool news I thought I’d share: Microsoft is going 2.0.

Author: Mitch Keeler Gaining press and getting people interested in what you are producing are some of the hardest things to do once your Web site is finally up and running. Will they love me or do they hate me? Well first they have to find out who you are. Here are five things I always try to do when it comes to launching a new Web site or project. 1. Get the Web Site Finished - Nobody likes to get all hyped up over an idea to go find out it isn’t even done yet. It might sound like something most people would think of, but you’d be surprised by the number who do not. 2. Tell Your Friends and Family First - Word of mouth advertising is always the best, so when launching a new Web site or project this should be the first area you focus on when it comes to spreading the word about what you are trying to do. These people are also the easier to beg and plead with when it comes to asking to share it with friends and people they know that you do not. I’d much rather beg my best friend to do something for me than a total stranger. 3. Use the Social Web Experience - Now I am not going to tell you to go submit yourself to every social news Web site, because that it usually frowned upon. You can use some of these thing to your advantage though. Try to get yourself on places like StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us. They can bring a lot of fresh faces to your Web site, especially if it leans a little towards the geeky side of things. 4. Find the Network for Web Sites Like Yours - Next step should be to find forums, blogs and other social means of communication on the Web and spread your message there about your new project or idea. Make sure you an established personality or member of these forums or groups that you post at before you start plugging yourself as well. Nobody likes to be the guy who makes his introduction while plugging something. It looks a little tacky. 5. Reach Out to the Press - Is there a certain group of professional press you can reach out to in your area of business? If so - you might hit them up for a review or a mention of your new project or Web site. If your Web site is about soccer, and your doing something nobody else has done before, some soccer news outlets across the Web might be interested in your story. It never hurts to at least pitch the idea to them. If they can’t use you now, they might keep you in mind for something in the future.

Author: Mitch “Kevin Costner Who?” Keeler I have been wanting to tinker with creating an gadget for a while now - just never had a good reason or cause to do it. That was the case of course till last night while cruising through some of the recent threads over on the forums. Then I heard a voice - a voice that said, “Give the Lunarpages customers an easier way to access some of the most often clicked links that has to offer.” Oh yeah, it also said something about “If you build it they will come…” or something to that effect. Here is a closer view on what you can get on your iGoogle page once you add it. As you can see everything from the to submitting a help desk ticket is on there. Not too shabby for a quick day and a half of learning the iGoogle gadget ropes. Just click the link above to add it to your own homepage. Let me know what you think too - this one was so much fun to create, might just have to do some more.

Web hosting is an Internet hosting service that provides individual users or companies to display their website on the World Wide Web. As the name suggests, a web host provides space to his clients on his server for a certain pre-ascertained fee. Further, he also provides his clients with Internet connectivity and other facilities as well. Web hosts can provide one other kind of service called collocation, which means, offering a space for the client’s data center and internet connectivity as well, for other servers that they do not own. There are a lot of types of web hosting available. The basic version is webpage hosting and other small-scale business hosting, where the necessary information can be uploaded on the user’s website via the FTP or the File Transfer Protocol. A web hosting company used to be very expensive in the past. But today, any and every web hosting company offers its services at very reasonable rates. With the rates falling so steeply in the last few years, more and more are purchasing web space and web hosting services. There are several web hosting companies today that offer web space at a very cheap. Cheap web hosting companies offer their space at a much lower cost when their client buy domains with them. You can find many such cheap web hosting packages on the Net. If you are looking for free web hosting, you will find that on the Net too. Many web hosts offer free web hosting free, as a package, along with the purchase of the domain names they offer. Web hosting companies also provide advanced business web hosting services with development platforms like PHP, Java and ASP.NET. This allows users to create scripts for e-Commerce sites, content management and forums. The host may additionally supply his client with an interface control panel, e-mail and so on.
Business web hosting companies can provide PHP MySQL enterprise services, such as Embedded databases, online MySQL web applications and MySQL guides for users with all levels of expertise in the subject. Many PHP MySQL web hosting companies offer monitoring and advisory facilities as well, when required.
Are you looking for web hosting reseller services? There are many web hosting reseller companies that offer unlimited plans. Choosing from these web hosting reseller plans, you can manage and host an unlimited number of websites on a variety of operating systems such as Windows, Unix/Linux and so on. Such reseller plans are the best for entrepreneurs, web designers and all the others who need to host multiple domains.
There are hundreds and thousands of web hosting companies available on the Net. In order to choose the most ideal web host to suit your needs, you need to do a little research online. You need to know exactly what you are looking for, what budget you can afford and what kind of services you expect from your web host. It would always be more advisable to go with a named company rather than a new one, as new hosting companies might end up making false claims to rope in more customers.

by Tiara Rea Which brings me to the point of this blog – stickers are invaluable. This is what the following dream proves, which my friend and the newest sales rep at Lunarpages Web Hosting, Adriann, just told Amy and I this morning. The dream involved Amy taking Adriann to some huge affiliate event, where she attempted to convince customers to become affiliates by offering them pretty, sparkly, fairy stickers!! When the affiliates stopped responding to these stickers, dream!Amy demanded that Adriann draw her own fairy stickers so they’d be edgier for our affiliates’ enjoyment. Amy and I are currently re-thinking our Business Development model to include , as Adriann convinced us they worked out well in the dream. Adriann is clearly now part of the Lunartic group, I think. ;)
When I was a kid, were like, totally all the rage dude. Even though I was a pretty little girl with pink bows in my hair and little frilly white socks, I’d have punched any other kid’s face off if they tried to come after my adorable, big-eyed animal stickers! They are about as much a part of my childhood as pop rocks and bad Chuck E Cheese pizza, and those stickers were as valuable as my Wii is today. I hoarded mine in a clear jar I got from our basement and I think, funny enough, they’re still there. If I’d have wanted to give them out, I think my friends would have done anything I told them to.

Have you ever wondered what the world’s longest domain name is? How long can a domain be? It’s limited. It seems that a domain can be no longer than 63 characters minus the top level domain suffix. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogochuchaf.org.uk thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com Since the limit is on what precedes to top level domain name, breaking the tie is a matter of who has the longest TLD. In this case it’s .org.uk. Congratulations! Someone also attempted to create the :

All you content management system junkies have something to celebrate today. has been released - and it does have some impressive new features worth talking about. On behalf of the entire WordPress team, I’m proud and excited to announce the immediate availability of version 2.2 “Getz” for download. This version includes a number of new features, most notably Widgets integration, and over two hundred bug fixes. It’s named in honor of tenor saxophonist Stan Getz. Some of the new features and upgrades include: That is only scratching the surface. One of the features I am most excited about seeing is the fact that they will now protect you from activating a plugin or editing a file that will break your blog. I might wait a while till all my favorite plugins are upgraded (if need be) before going through the fun of a WordPress upgrade. I look forward to playing around with this new release though.

With a very simple concept, Digg.com has changed the fundamental nature of the news media and how millions of people access information. Digg (and its fellow social media sites) democratized the media…Now, argue about whether this is good or bad, but it’s now a fact of life.
I suppose most anyone would be able to notice the trend in the number of social media sites such as coming online. Have you spent any time on these sites? And for the site builders out there, would you undertake building a social media site rather than a static site or blog based site?
